Chronic Pain (Technical)
Does your daily routine include adjusting to some sort of nagging pain? You are given one life to live. Why would you want to spend it in pain? Chances are, if you do not do something about it, it will get worse. Especially if it is a degenerative condition, do not "let it go." It will obviously get harder to repair the more it degenerates. Here are some facts about chronic pain and what you can do about it.

Closed Mouthed About Jaw Pain
TMJ disorder (or just "TMJ" or "TMD") is the name used for several conditions that affect the jaw (technical term for jaw: Temporo Mandibular Joint). Sufferers of TMJ may have difficulty opening and closing their mouths, especially when trying to speak and chew. TMJ can also cause clicking noises, muscle tightness, earaches and rushing or ringing in the ears, a feeling of the jaws grinding or grating, and pain. Headaches, shoulder, and neck pain can also be associated with this disorder and may be the first thing noticed before TMJ sets in. Muscle spasms, tenderness and swelling of the face and neck can also accompany TMJ.

Alternative Goes Mainstream
Chiropractic, herbs, acupuncture and other so-called "alternative treatments" are clearly here to stay. And boomers aren't the only ones embracing them.

Their children--and their parents-are trying everything from aromatherapy to yoga to stay healthy or get well, according to a new survey by Harvard Medical School researchers. The survey found that 68 per cent of adults have used at least one kind of alternative or complementary therapy. Nearly half stuck with one treatment for as long as 20 years.

Are Allergies Holding Your Health Hostage?
Allergies are a hypersensitive immune system's reactions to normal antigens in the environment. Simply, allergic symptoms like runny nose, wheezing, hives, inflammation, stomach cramps, or itching are the body's reaction to something it does not like. Uncomfortable and, sometimes, life-threatening physical reactions can occur when an allergic person comes in contact with an allergen, whether it is inhaled, eaten, or touched. What healthy bodies perceive as non-threatening, the allergic person's body sees as toxic and poisonous.
