Just Thinking About Headaches is Depressing
Talk about a downward spiral! Most people would agree that being in pain is upsetting. One type of pain, in particular, creates a mental felling of helplessness. That pain is headache pain. It's terribly difficult to determine which comes first, the headache or the distress. What's certain is, once the headache starts, the distress is sure to follow. This added stress frequently increases the pain that increases the stress, thus creating a vicious downward spiral, when your head hurts, it's hard just to think straight. Headaches that are frequent or last for days, sometimes with no relief, easily cause depression.

Car Accident, Neck & Back Pain Years Later
With current legislation mandating the use of seat belts, an increased number of neck and back injuries have been reported when seat belts are used. While these injuries may be less significant than in unrestricted accidents, health care providers must address these potentially lifelong problems and not dismiss them as merely "Whiplash". Many cases of tension headache and Cervical Migraine may be the result of a neck injury that may have been forgotten or simply dismissed as trivial by the patient-according to a study published in Spine. In the article, Dr. MacNab reviewed 266 cases and found at least 45% continued to have symptoms 2 years following the settlement of court actions. Most people that are involved in "minor" rear-end collisions do not realize the potential for injury to the spine. If pain does not immediately ensue, the incident may be forgotten.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Do you spend long hours at a computer terminal, work on an assembly line, use your hands or wrists repetitively, or maybe play a musical instrument for hours a day? If you perform the same movement day after day, you may be setting yourself up for repetitive motion injury.

Vertigo Scarier Than Hitchcock
"If I wanted to be this dizzy, I'd go to an amusement park!" To people who have never suffered from vertigo, it doesn't seem like such a big deal. If they could think how their lives would change with their environment continuously whirling about them sickeningly, they would very likely change their opinion. Vertigo is not necessarily painful but it can be debilitating and continuously disorienting. Driving may be impossible and walking across a room may have dangerous consequence, too. Often, people with vertigo need help just getting by.
